Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to the UK since September 2025, Susanne comes at a key time in terms of implementing the Kensington Treaty (2025). The Treaty allows for ease of travel between the two countries, yet it also focuses on joint responses to global conflicts, opportunities for cooperation around defence, and the challenges and opportunities of AI and technology.

Susanne entered the Foreign Service in 1993. She became Head of the Nuclear Disarmament, Arms Control and Non-proliferation Division, Federal Foreign Office, followed by a move to the Federal Chancery as Head of the Division for Security and Disarmament Policy, Bilateral Relations with the USA, Canada: North, West and South Europe, and Turkey. She then became Deputy Federal Government Commissioner for Disarmament and Arms Control at the Foreign Office, followed by Federal Government Commissioner for Disarmament and Arms Control, Head of Directorate-General for International Order, the United Nations and Arms Control. In 2021 she was appointed State Secretary of the Federal Foreign Office (2021-2025).
